City Solid Waste Program

Solid waste pick-up day in Shadow Woods is Tuesday.
Yard waste pickup begins the first week in
April and
continues through the last week in November.

Residents are advised to place containers facing the street (wheels in back). If both trash and recycling containers are put out, there should be a distance of at least four feet between them. These requirements are necessitated by the pick-up devices on the trucks.
There are several helpful web pages concerning the
recycling
program. They are:

A Great Day at the Races!
Plenty of Shadow Woods residents found the time to take in the sights of the Brooksie Way Half-Marathon on Sunday, Oct. 2.  The neighborhood turnout included parents, kids, bikes, and even pets -- a lively group to cheer on the runners and walkers.  The race had over 4000 participants this year, whose efforts raise money for the Brooksie Way Mini-grant Program, assisting organizations all over Oakland County.  A great cause, and a fun morning!

A Howling Good Time!

Party-goers of every age had a great time at our annual Halloween Parade and Party!  Winter Park was busy with dinosaurs, pirates, fairies and princesses, to name just a few of our costumed guests.  The parade, led by firefighters from Station 5, was followed by cider and donuts, games and crafts.  It was a perfect opportunity for neighbors to meet and spend some fun-filled time together.

Special neighborhood events like this can take place only when there are willing volunteers -- many, many thanks to Stacey Ferguson and Tara Mills, as well as their families.  Chalk up another success!
